Outlander 400 shifting issue
#2
We have an almost new 2006 Outlander 400 Max and have the same problem. I have read on the outlander site that it is a common problem they even have a name for it, the "outlander bump", I guess meaning you have to bump the shifter to get it to go or maybe rock the machine back and forth. I am going to talk to the dealer about it but from what I've seen it is not something that can be repaired it is just the way it is. I have used other automatic ATV's that the shifter was the same way.
What I have found is that letting up on the brake a little allows it to shift easier, I think because the ATV moves a little. A lot of the time it shifts no problem but sometimes, I'd say maybe 30% of the time, it is harder.
