What are we DS 650 guys going to do?!?!?

I've owned three DS 650s, and until this last week the 2005 DS 650 had remained as my all time favorite ATV, even though I have since owned numerous other sport ATVs and sport utility ATVs. The 2005 DS 650 just got bumped one notch down the all time favorite ATV list though. In just one week of owning a Renegade 800 R I have found a new favorite. Can Am just seems to be able to build ATVs that become my "favorite". I need to keep that in mind in the future when I start thinking I need another new ATV.
I did a review on the '09 Renegade 800 R if anyone is interested. Here's a link to the review: LINK

Man I would love to test ride one of those. It's not sporty enough for me.. but it does look cool and I heard some amazing things about this machine. I had a guy pick up some parts who was local to me from Ebay, and he couldn't say enough good things about the Renegade. Said it will wheelie in reverse.

I'm not a pro on what parts cross from the 660 to the 700 but, I don't think much if anything will cross over.
As for the Renegade. . . it is a strong Ute but, if you are looking for a sport quad it isn't the quad for you. There is no way you'll throw that thing around. Lots you can do with it though. I'm sure there will be a number of guys that for their riding area the Renegade will work well. I think for the dunes for most guys it won't be what they are looking for. Depends on where / what you like to ride.

I'm looking into the Raptor 700 as well. I still got my DS build going on (taking me forever), and one thing I must say the DS is very easy to work on compared to most quads I have had previously owned and worked on. I am glad Can-Am/BRP is another entry into the sport market, but they need to expand on the models they have. Sure the DS450 is a pretty wild machine, but I don't think it's what us loyal DS guys are looking for .
Mark/DuneMe being that you had a 660 how much different is the 700 over it? Are some parts interchangeable? Drain plug? rear grab bar? shifter?? I am parting out my 660 and I wanted to see if any parts are interchangeable so i don't regret selling them off in the future.
Hopefully Feb/March next year I'll get an 08 model. Any issues with the EFI?
Just to let you guys know.. I own a 450.. they are pretty fun machines to ride, almost like a 2 stroke with wheelspin galore, but nothing like a big bore. Power on tap, less clutch work and that big motor just lugs you around effortlessly.</end quote></div>

Cynick:
I have no doubt that a number of old DS guys will go to a rail or a SxS.
We are probably going to sell the Mini-Rail and pick-up a SxS that I can take out at local dirt areas. We'll see.
I hear Can-Am is coming out with a dirt-bike. Seems like a no-brainer as they already have the engine, frame can probably be the Altec. . .
Big question is will the make the jump into the SxS market. That new Polaris RZR-S is the one to beat IMO.

I hear ya there, I'm not sellin the DS or the R1 cause I want to upgrade. I need a 4 seat rail cause the kids are gettin too big. They are still too young to ride by themselves. Tired of one or the other stayin behind while the other one rides.

I am becoming a very frustrated ds owner as well as the rest of you. Don't get me wrong I love most of things about the ds (suspension, power, comfort, uniqueness), but lately the lack of parts and reliability have really got me looking for a new model for desert riding. It frustrates me that the aftermarket parts for the ds is disappearing and as well as the value. It feels like I am stuck with it because I have way too much invested. I did recently test out the ds450 last weekend and I am still not ready to switch over yet. I loved the slimeness, comfort and suspension of the 450, but the power was lacking. Can am definitly needs to make a big bore bike. I talked with the representitives at the ride says it all tour and it doesn't sound like one is going to be produced. What do you do?

I understand where most of you guys are coming from with the parts availability, and it being discontinued and all... but I'm 6'6" 250lbs and the DS is the ride for me. I have a 1985 Honda 350x that is pumped up and can still run with any of the air cooled 4 bangers. If I can keep it running 23 years after it was produced, I figure that the DS can do the same so I'm not to worried about it yet....but we'll see what the future holds.

I'm 6 ft. 1 in. 330lbs with a bad knee, and I would love to by a honda trx450r, I want to go to the tracks, and ride aggresive as hell, but as far as cross country through the desert, I'd rather be comfortable, and there is nothing that call for cross country then a DS650. I've gone where YFZ 450, and Banshee's had to stop and regroup, so that they may detour just to catch up with me. I don't have upgraded shocks, although if I did I'm going to get lost for sure. But back to the question at hand. I've been up Rocky hills where the bolders can stop you died in your tracks. the bolder had to be river bed bolder 8 to 10 inch bolder for about 80yds. know on any other bike I'm sure my lower back would have taken a beating, but had it been any thing other then the DS650. my back would be worn all the way out. Banshee sucks, unless you upgrade the hell out of it's suspention system.
