My buddy buys a lot of bikes at the auction for resale and other bike shops,He called me the other day and said he had a bike for me.(it was a 03 ds650) I am a large man 6'5 390 and for once i dont feel to big for the bike, anyway the bike is in great shape and he only wants 1,400 for it,is that a great deal or what?but my question is i cant get the idiot light to go off for oil or temp,i have cleaned screen and draind oil and put in new, still on,could it be sending unit or just the light?

first off. congrats on the purchase! YOU will be hapy with this quad, very comffy & lots of power. as for your problem, it probably is the sending unit. i had 2 them go out before i switched to a mechanical gauge and eliminated the whole sending unit light issue.by the time the light comes on its to late. you can get a new sending unit from bikebandit.com they have a good selection of oem parts. welcome to the forum.

You will love your DS and that was a good deal that you scored.
I'd try some electrosafe in the send unit followed by a good blast of compressed air. Have to get/keep the moisture out. If that doesn't solve the problem try Parker Yamaha or Proshop Motorsports and Marine. Great prices and even better customer service.
And welcome to the forums.
