Default new bike

hey all...new to this site and had a couple of questions....just got a 2006 ds650 quad....seems like a nice enough ride but since i have been into two wheels all my life (50yrs old) was wondering what to expect out of this ride...maintance wise is there alot... how reliable are they...is this quad good for trail and mountian riding ir would i be better off trading down to a trx400 for ex....any info is better than what i know..thanks

Stay with the DS, they are damm near bullet proof, if it is stock you can do a few small things to improve it greatly. Just like any other dirt machine a little maint. goes a LONG way, just keep the oil changed and you will be trouble free mechanically. I think it will be fine for mountain/trail riding, hell when I had mine I took it places in the hills that my dirtbike went. But I now am back to 2 wheels and am lovin it, if you need any help don't hesitate to pm or ask on here, there is a lot of good guys here.

thanks loads...i dont think i need much improvment...its faster than crap...much more than i will ever need...dont know much re the rotax motor....any adjustments i need to worry bout...and what type and how much oil...thats first....looking for a manual now

I used the Honda HP4 it ran cooler and worked awesome. As far as adjustments, it should be all good unless the chain is loose, even that takes all of 5 min. The Rotax motor is a real good one, it is very tough. Check ebay for manual on disc, it works great and is easy to use.

I wouldn't really worry too much until it gets hard to start, then do them, but it probly already has been done. Any more questions don't hesitate to ask.
