Post '00 Ds650 cutting out when bumpy

Hi I just got a 00 ds650 I love it great machine. It has a Ron Woods CDI box and exhaust and a mikuni HSR 45 carb. the only prob that I'm having is when I'm going at a pretty good speed when its bumpy it starts to cut out and die a little. I thought it was the carb but then I noticed that the tach dies out too its only when it's bumpy I can go on flat road? Any suggestions? Maybe a bad ground but I don't know wher to look? Thanks for the help.

hi ds65084.. nice machine you got there..well, i can say you just limit your speed when you drive your machine so it wont get exhausted rightaway

you got me stumped, cutting out when it rattles around only sparks a loose wire connection in my mind, maybe the bad ground, maybe the battery connections are bad and it needs to be secured better in the box so it doesnt bounce around on ya
But i def do not agree with the nkkiegem123 post...

I've had an instance where the plates inside the battery came loose. When the bike is bouncing hard, the plates would short out shutting power off to the bike (the battery was only 3 months old, so I didn't even suspect it). It was brutal finding the problem, but I had a spare old battery that I swapped out just for kicks and the problem was solved.

Also check your kill switch/key switch for shorts. As a quick test, start the bike and thump your handlebar ends with a rubber mallet to see if the bike stalls from the vibration...

Electrical gremlins suck...good luck!

I agree, it has to be an electrical issue. Are the boots on your spark plugs securely?

If it were mine, I would swap out the battery..Mine did the same thing... but only with the headlight off.. if that doesn't work, unplug all of the connectors & look for any signs of corrosion.
