my riser was origionaly 3/4 inch. i flipped it around and put the top half under the riser as the fatty clamp fits into the riser block cut out for the bars. that is how i got more height. the origional 3/4 was enough to clear the ims tank. also remember i am useing mid height not highs.

the clamps in the link you posted look like they will work fine. if you are going to use the pro taper check to see what they offer. if you are useing the 1 1/8 bars you will need to use their clams anyways & they might be higher as well.

Put the ProTaper SE ATV High Mount bars on last night and they are real nice. Very close to stock specs. They do hit the tank with stock risers. Not much but enough to prohibit the full turning radius. Just ordered the Powermadd 1" risers and am working out mounting the handguards. The set back is a little better and it seems real comfortable. I'll post picts when done.

are your new bars 1 1/8 or 7/8? i had to drill the ends of my bars to accept the factory hand guards. all went well. just take your time and only go in as far as needed no more!!!!

I got the 7/8 bars but still had to get a riser extender. The stock bars are narrow and the aftermarket are much wider. I rigged the Handguards last night. I reused the bolts and just inserted a black fuel hose I had. Screwed them right in and it works great. Fit on perfect. I'm still waiting on the 1" Riser extenders.
The reason I bought new bars is because I bent the crap out of the stocks. Could not get them back into shape. The Aluminum bars are much stronger and price is very close to replacing with stock. Yes, I did have to spend $35 on a riser extender but these new bars have a nicer bend and will hold up much better.

I know what you mean, it is confusing. I wanted to get as close to factory as possible. So, I went with the ProTaper SE ATV High Mount Bars. They are the biggest bars they make and are close to the factory specs. I even talked to a tech over at ProTaper. The Contour bars are also nice. They are 1 1/8" on the bottom and taper to 7/8" at the top. They don't have the crossbar so you can see the gauges well. You would have to make wider risers for these bars. The problem I found with the contours was the High mounts weren't as big as the SE's and you would have to rebend the Hanguard bars to fit onto them.
Overall, I'm very happy with the SE bars and like the crossbar with pad. It actually matches the whole color scheme of my bike. I haven't really rode it yet so can't comment on the bend yet but they feel great when sitting on it. Cost wise it wasn't too bad. $120 total.
Forgot to mention the bars are about an inch wider than the stocks so there's more room to mount the controls.

Thanks for the info. I like the cross bars as well. On the off chance you don't like the risers you bought, I will post pictures of the risers I custom make when I have new bars. Just in case you're interested.
The cool thing about making them myself is I can figure out where the bars would be most comfortable and machine a riser accordingly.

Don't know how mine will work. If I don't like them I will return them and look into other options. I can drive the bike without them, just can't make real sharp turns. Kind of dangerous I guess.
