Default Tire question

a 6ply radial or a 8 ply non radial...more specificly 8ply dirt commander or 6 ply radial terra cross r/t.....both 14 inch rim on my outy 800

a little help...whats the difference...radial or not?

Radials have certain advantages. They have a more pliable foot print that does not narrow (egg spin) at speed. They also have better lateral stability as the belts are able to independently react to the ground. Radials are also better for long aggressive rides where the tires will heat up a lot.

As far as ply..... 6-ply are usually more than enough for ATV riding. I would imagine an 8-ply would be heavier than a 6-ply too. But a 6-ply should do the job.

thank you....any idea how to find the weight of the terracross r/t....26x9x14 and 26x11x14...i have been looking between those and the dirt commander or maxxis bighorns..i have weight of all but terracross..want the lightest i can get...

It use to be that all there was was 2,4 and 6 ply. One was tough the other was tougher and the last was toughest. I think 8 ply is getting overkill and weight might take any advantages of it away.
