im putting my ds back together and i went to replace the burnt out tail light and i cant find a bulb that either fits or works without burning out. The one that was in it was a 1154 i bought 2 new ones and put it in and they burn out in about 1 sec so then i got me some 1157 bulbs and they dont fit can anyone out their with a owners manual tell me what bulb i need for the tail/brake light i would really appreciate it. The bulb seems to be backwards cause the tail light fillament is burning out when the brake is applied this may just be the wrong bulb but if not i got some wiring to do thx for any help

 

1157 is what it's supposed to take. I'd break out the multimeter and check your voltages before I kept testing with new bulbs.

 

i bought new 1157 bulbs and they dont fit i can hold it in place and test it and it works both tail and brake and doesnt burn bulb is there a different style 1157 thanks though for the repley

 

WOW, that's crazy, I just replaced one 2 days ago..1157 went right in. I'm sure you know this, but make sure you have the bulb in at the correct rotation. It's fit's one way, then rotate it 180 degree and doesn't fit. Just making sure.

 

thx for the reply i did know about the pins bring different the depth of the one side is about 1\4 inch deeper than the pin i thinking maybe they might have change bulb styles throughout the years or something or some one changed the socket in the past. i really dont need brake lights any ways cause i rarely ever use them i just want something shiny for every one behind me to look at lol
