clutch belt squeals like a pig on my outty 800- I replaced it with another one from ebay and it still does it- I brought it to the dealer to check the cvt and they said it's because I used an aftermarket belt- not a BRP OEM belt.
I don't know what the diff is but when BRP wants $174 for a belt and I can get one on ebay for $65 that seems to work fine- ebay wins.
so, my point (eventually got to it
) is that maybe you need a belt...?
edit: actually- sorry, I have no idea if a ds even has a cvt trans

just put some pancake syrup on the sides of the drive belt it stops the sqealling and smells good, makes ya hungry I personally like blue berry
need a little more infro on the ds, did it start losing power when the noise appeared?
if you changed the head pipe check for an exhaust leak at the head it will make a whisle.
where is the noise coming from, top of motor or bottem?
take your oil filter out and see if it is full of brass colored metal if it does you have bearing trouble put the bike on a stand and rev it up isolate the noise

It's that damned quieter exhaust that you put on. Put that loud azzed exhaust back on there and I bet the squeal goes away!
Have you checked the hose connecting the carb to the intake? They do dry rot from time to time and need to be replaced. Could be air sucking in somewhere that needs a little maintenance/TLC.

well- I do know that when a bearing starts to go on a vehicle you'll get a squeal at higher rpm- be it a crank bearing, wheel bearing or a muffler bearing
(no- seriously

No CVT belt on a DS. I would start by draining the oil from the bottom end and look for any metal shavings. Does it squeal only under load or also sitting in neutral?

Get out your billfold, its going to get expensive. Start by pulling off clutch cover and then the head if nothing abnormal in clutch. If the valve train and piston are ok pull other side cover but cases will probably have to be split.
