Was the head resurfaced or replaced when it was rebuilt?

a simple compression check of the cylinder will tell you if you have a blown gasket- also, your radiator fluid would be contaminated and your plug would show signs of contamination if your head gasket was blown. If you do pressureize the radiator to check for a headgasket leak- be sure to remove the spark plug to neutralize any pressure in the cylinder.

Are you sure your coolant ratio is correct and you're using the proper sparkplug- both would contribute to overheating.

Some fans will run both ways (+ / - & - / +) make sure when you hard-wired your fan, it's pulling air through the radiator and not pushing...

i have only riden it for 5 or 6 hours sence i rebuilt it and the timing, vaulves and cam lash were all correct. so unless it has jumped a tooth it should be right. the other reason i think its the jet is because it starts up and idles with out the choke.

I'm not sure about position, but I'm fairly certain there's a top & bottom surface difference... there is on 2 stroke outboards anyway, unless it's an o-ring.

ok heres an up date to my over heating problem. after cleaning the radatior out very well (took out of bike and washed) refilled coolent with 50/50, i went and rode it around the yard. my temp gauge reads about 135-140 deg and if i turn the fan on and ride it (or let it idle) the temp gauge reads 100-110. hows that for fixing my overheating issue.
