Default DS650 blown motor! Need help please! :)

Hi i have a ds650 and my piston just blew, is it alright to just change the piston and not change the timeing chain and all that? ive been told that just changing the piston might affect the rest of the motor after a while. When i opened the motor were the timing chain is everything looked as if it was new! I am confused as if i should be changing most of the motor or just the piston and piston rings?

Never heard of having to replace the timing chain if a piston goes. You really need to pull the head off to see the extent of the damage. If the jug is heavily scored then it will take more than just a piston replacement to get it running again. You could also have valve damage but you wont know until you open it up.

what do you mean by piston blew? Did it break? or just loose compression? ,
like DSengineer said you need to pull the head and see what happened check the valves to make sure they are not bent and check the head for straightness not warped then check the piston and rings . remember you have a plated cylinder so if you bore it you must replate it

As said in previous reply's...open the engine all the way up and go from there. It might be a good time to go with a 730...

There is someone on that goes by Goodsound. You might want to pm him, he had a used cylinder, piston etc...probably in great shape knowing him. These 730 kits are mostly all OMWracing kits. A well proven kit/engine builder...
