02 DS90 blowing fuse
#1
hey,
Cant figure this one out.The red fuse link off the pos. term of the batt. blows as soon as you touch them.Thought it was the stator cause the three group plug all tested to ground. If I unplug the three prong plug the ground is gone. All three wires read short between each other also. The atv runs and I can even use the starter with a fuse in the holder.I am using a 5 amp fuse by the way.But the atv quickly looses what seems to be power them dies.I replaced the carburator,it needed it the other one was clogged even after a soak in cleaner. If anyone can tell me if the shorts and ground at the stater is not the issue then what is.I connected the two red wires coming off the batt. together long enough to see that no charge was getting to the batt. I could feel heat at that connection.Could the regulator be the problem?
Thanks for reading and helping out..

OK, the stator is and will show ground on all connectors and shorts across the coils.I checked it to a new one.I also read good AC voltage at the red fuse link wire going to pos. batt. term when the atv is running. The same red fused wire at the battery will also ring to ground with regulator plugged in.So I unplugged the regulator and I can start the atv and the ground is gone because the diod in the blown regulator is out of the circuit. That circuit is nothing but a charge circuit and I thought I could run the atv so my son was riding it when it lost spark at the plug.WTH!,Am I wrong In thinking that the atv should run without a regulator. Also,Is there a chance that someone can shed light on why I dont have fire that will really help
thanks
thanks
