I do like how the big bores can get the tires spinning fast enough that snow will not stay in the treads. Speed and snow can get a little hairy sometimes. If I'm climbing a steep hill in the snow it's 4wd low. If it's a groomed trail with packed snow it's either 2 or 4wd high. Biggest reason I'm thinking about a big bore in the future is snow riding and being able to get more speed up. Going up steep hills in 4wd high I'd top out about 30 and it just wouldn't accelerate anymore. I found the same thing on steep hills in the regular riding season also. Get on a wide trail with some steepness to it and anything over a 35 degree climb there would be no getting above 30 or so. Then again, the quad has to carry my 350 lbs. and I'm sure it could do a little better with a smaller rider.

Then in that case the Renegade 800 we're talking about in this thread might be just the ATV you are looking for. I have video of me racing my son up a 700 ft tall hillclimb. I'm on the Renegade 800 and he is on a Grizzly 700. I weigh 100 lbs more than he does, and despite that the Renegade climbed the hill, turned around at the top and started coming back down, and met the Grizzly halfway up, still climbing the hill.

I really think it's what each of us prefer and what works best for each one of us rather than which one is "best".
Here's an example. I'm sitting on top of the hill and I was they one who cut the path with my 3 1/2-wd Honda.
My friend can't get his brand new Suzuki 750 KQ with brand new Maxxis Big Horns up the same hill with a front locking differential.
I had to walk back down and move the log out of the trail that I climbed over (second try) and he couldn't get over.
So what's the better set up here?? A locker or my 3 1/2-wd?

I don't know what I would buy if I was going to buy an ATV today.
I would consider an Outlander 800 if they have fixed all the heat that comes off the clutch. I rode the '09 800 Max in Nov and the heat was nice but I don't think I could take it on a nice July afternoon.
I get to ride a lot of ATVs and I still don't mind climbing back on the one I have.
The Renegade was a blast but not well suited for me.

I'd like to see how much better the QE Visco Lok system is though.

He could always put his KQ in 3x4 mode, I myself never seen a situation where 3wd had a advantage over 4wd.
