Smile Planning on Purchase

I'am planning on purchasing a new atv. Right now I'm looking at the Can-Am. Of course my first thought is "get the biggest" (1000). But budget says otherwise. So I been eyeballing the 650 Can-Am. I'am a light weight rider. Plowing, hunting and riding with the gran-kids. If any of you have suggestions please throw it in. I appreciate it very much.

Just bought an Outlander Max 650 XT-P. If you will be having riders along I'd highly recommend the Max. Even if you don't the longer wheelbase makes it more stable and provides more rack space when single riding. I bought the 650 after having a Polaris Sportsman X2 500 that was really good, but under powered on long steep hills when in high range. The Outlander 650 is comparable to most of the 700-800 class machines power-wise. Put about 350 miles on it. Everything from slow rock climbs, mudholes, water crossing, and high speed open trails. Have loved every minute of it.

i am doing some tire kicking and considering replacing my polaris 800. I have looked at both polaris and can am, yes the can am is nice but are they really worth $4k more than a similiar polaris?...i know polaris doesnt make a machine with the same exact features,

I think it's a matter of what you're getting for the money. If I were to add all the extras the XT-P came with on after buying a regular 650 Max I'd have spent a couple thousand more than I did buying the packaged machine. And there are some options like the on board air compressor that are not easy to get on any other machine.

This is the info. on the 2012 like I just bought. http://www.canamoffroad.com/Archives...derMax_650.pdf

If you see that a Can-Am has the ACS (air controlled suspension) it has the on-board compressor. It's right under the seat on mine.

Just noticed the 2013 lineup doesn't have a 650 XT-P. Only have it in 800 and 1000.

i see, that suspecnsion is listed for the LE, they claim the XT-P has fox podium piggy back shocks. So maybe it doesnt have the compressor, maybe i need to look at the LE, i plan to upgrade the tires, but really liked the beadlock wheels on the XT-P
