Repair costs on a Renegade 500 frame and trailing arm
#1
Hi all,
I'm just looking at getting into the quad scene. I think the Can-Am Renegade 500 is likely the best for me. I don't need a workhorse, riding for fun. My friends say I really shouldn't do without the 4x4, and there's lots of snow in the winters where I live!
The thing is, where I live the costs for these quads are enormous. The only one I've found I could realistically get is $3,000. It is a 2010 Renegade 500, with 2650 km on it, and was hit from behind. There is trailing arm and frame damage.
With no experience I'd have to pay someone else for sure to do the work. My question is, if I'm paying to get it repaired how much roughly am I looking at to fix these things? (I would buy it if it would only be a thousand or less to be fully repaired...) Any chance that's possible?
Thanks for the help!
P.S. It says the engine runs great, but is there anything else specifically I should be asking about with that serious of damage? I'm guessing lots of body, lights, plastic and stuff. I'm really not sure...maybe I'm lucky the hit was from behind, though.

If there's frame damage on it, I wouldn't buy it.
Well, if there's not much damage to the plastics and it starts and runs, I'd go $500 and part it out.

a 2010 rene 500 with 2500 miles is worth about $6 - $6500-
this rene with extensive damage is worth maybe $2500- but to only someone with a lot of repair experience.
can-am atv'ls are not cheap or easy to repair.
if I were you- I'd walk away from it.
