I'm thinking about new bars, I'm thinking a little longer, a little less pullback, a little higher, I also think I would like aluminum. I see the adds in the rags, all these different bends????? what do you guys like? Thanks

I've always wondered how a person decides he/she needs new bars. Every handlebar on every machine I've owned has felt fine, but am I missing something?

I know I rode one dirt bike where the bars were way too wide, other than that, I've never noticed any difference or any problem.

What could new bars do for me that I don't even know - anything?

have just replaced the stockers on my DS with a set of Renthals (Black Jimmy Button Bend), they are a fraction wider but lower and with more curve-back.

This has made the steeting and ergonaomics far more comfortable for my size and riding style (6' 240#). The other big improvement is the jarring from the bars is cut way down, and your forearms don't wear out as quickly.

Yes I think comfort is the main reason to change the bars, I have also heard before that with aluminum, less jarring and vibration. I was not happy with the bars on my warrior but did'nt want to spend the $, had tags on the 250X/350X I just sold, I liked them pretty well but I dont think there right for the DS, so I'm looking at whats available. I don't think Ozzy's bars are quite right for me ( I'm 6'5" 220# ) I want something a little higher, also when I'm standing up I want the handgrips to have a little less rear angle.
So Ozzy is ATVing popular in Australia? do you have many DS riders? from what I've seen on tv it looks like the DS650 and Australian terrian would be a good mix

I think the tallest bend Renthal make is the the Banshee bend, you might want to try your local Yamaha dealer, ours usually have them in stock. They were a too high for me, but they may work well for you.

Riding over here is rather interesting, we have Eco-***** in Parliament, who have the agenda of not getting any flora or fauna, cut down or damaged. They don't realise that our eco-system needs a bloody good burn off every few years to keep it active.

They have taken nearly all our guns, now they try to take away our riding spots.

But we persevere, we have a nice huge dune area (Lancelin) about an hour north of Perth, which we are now alowed to ride in about 10% of, this was in one of the more recent Crusty Demons vids.

Mostly me and my mates ride in the back of a big pine plantation, which the local quarry guys have turned into a big motocross track.

Yere the DS works really well over here, lots of dunes and wide open spaces. So far there are 26 DS650's in the state (AUD$14K is pretty scary), we have one Bombardier dealer, who also sells Sea-Doo jetski's. But the local BMW bike dealers do a good job on servicing DS's. There is a heap of Banshees and some Raptors and 400ex's around, 2 wheelers are by far the most common off-roaders you see, a new CR250 costs under AUD$9K - you can see why.
