Default Rectifier Testing

Hey guys on my 04 ds650 while at idle voltage across battery shows 14.7-14.8 with little revving doesn't change much. Does this sound like my rectifier is overcharging my battery? Is their a way to test it? Any good replacements or brands to look out for? All help appreciated thanks.

14.25 is closer to average but you're not in a range of concern. How far from 12v does it drop while starting? That's more of an area of concern.

http://forums.atvconnection.com/3100404-post3.html has voltages for a good rectifier. Better qustion might be what is the condition of the battery when you test the voltage. A discharged battery may allow the rectifier to pull higher volts at idle, but i'm not really convinced of that. It's still good to know the condition of the battery. Try using a known fully charged battery when testing the voltage as well. You could bypass the quad battery and run jumper cables to a car battery for the test.

I was only checking voltage because I thought my bogging out had something to do with bad spark. It ended up being a running rich condition all set now. It has a new battery too doubt that would be a culprit. Thanks for the help guys.
