Default New to quads

Been on dirtbikes for 40 plus years and usually get 40-50mpg. My first quad (CanAm 570) isn;t broke in yet but I got 12 mpg for the first 61 miles. Is that what I can expect in my future? Does anyone keep real record of their fuel mileage other than saying you get "about" xxx mpg?

56 mpg average over 1.5 years on my Chinese 250 quad but it's chain drive 5 speed. Tank only holds 1.2 gallons so I'd be in real trouble if it went only 12 miles on a gallon. My Chinese dual sport bike with the same engine averages 85 mpg.

nit sure about atv or your model, but during engine break with trucks, mileage will be about 2/3 of normal
When I install a crate engine small block Ford I always hear "Man Im getting 8mpg what gives?" then in another 2-3 months its "Im getting 12-16 now" which is about right for a built 302
So MPG will suffer during break in of 4 stroke engines

Wow! no answers from a CanAm owner? Don't think either one of those examples would be pertinent. A quad that doesn't use a belt drive would be similar to a motorcycle which you are indicating it is. I would not be too exited if 12mpg were 66% of what it would get later- that would be 18 mpg after break in- seems still very low? Thanks...

the average on any ATV is about 20 mpg more or less. It should get better once broke in.
At 12mpg you sure would not be able to go to far on your 5.4 Gal tank of gas, 65 miles tops.
My Ski-doo 800 e-tech gets 18 mpg and it's a 165hp 2 stroke and sleds are not known for fuel economy compared to ATVs but unlike ATVs sleds have 10 gal tanks atleast to make up for it.

I did a 90 mile (We trip metered it) ride with my friend on who has a 2012 800R Outlander with the same 5.4 tank and he made it no problem , not sure how much gas he had to spare though. He says it can get over 100 miles for sure.

I get 19 mpg or so with my 650 Can-Am Outlander Max. My son got almost 30 mpg with the quad he owned before, a Can-Am Renegade 500. Lowest for the 500 was about 25 and cruising rail trails was 32 a couple times. Average was around 28 mpg in mixed riding.

Stock tires so far. Odo was confirmed by the GPS on the handlebars as well as my friends ATV also. I'm hoping there is a computer programing change after a break in period that readjusts the fuel/air mixture... Speaking of that has anyone reprogrammed their ECU for an aftermarket pipe? I have access to a local guy selling an aftermarket pipe for a Grizzly 700 that I'm thinking of installing...
