Default Can Am Newbie

New to the Can Am world but been on here a long time. Primary ride is a modded Highlifter 1000SP and just picked up a low mile 2013 XMR 650. Looking to see what everyone runs for exhaust, clutch, and rear rack storage. Definitely not staying stock for long! My brother runs looney tuned on his 1000XT and was looking at HMF and Big Gun.

Been wanting one for a while and searched quite a bit before getting this one. Only has 1000 miles and came with a OEM plow and a few other goodies. Picked it up for $5650!

Thanks in advance and look forward to getting this beast beyond rack deep in the Spring :-)

Sounds like a good deal. Not into big modifications so can't help you there, Switz. I went with the factory large storage box on my 2012. Like it a lot. Got a quick attach/detach kit that was good while it lasted. I pretty much destroyed the latch so I use U-bolts to hold it down now. Takes maybe 5 minutes with a cordless screwgun to reinstall it.

I'm new to Can Am too. I just took delivery of a new Limited. But my purpose is much different than yours. I want to do "sedate" Colorado trail riding with my wife and friends. Reliability and smooth ride were important to me. I won't be doing more power modifications. I will install a winch "lift limit switch" so my winch won't be stretching my wire cable every time I lift the snowplow.

When and if it is time to sell my Can Am, it will be one that was "only driven to church on Sundays", a lightly used machine. I'm too old for full throttle in the mud pits.

Moosehenden- went with the mid size linq box which was a great fit. My Brother had a buddy who bought a Big Gun Exo pipe and she didn't like how much louder it was so I got it off him for $200-thing was still like new and sounds great! Looking forward to getting her out in the Spring :-)

Congrats and good luck with your new ride. I'm new to Can Am and ATVs for that matter, so can't help with mods yet.

An XMR is pretty well modded machine without having to add anything. I see no need to modify anything. Add a box if you want but I'd leave the rest of it alone. But that's just me. To each their own. That's quite a find for that price. Used Can-ams usually are quite expensive. Add on the XMR package and that tacks on even more to the cost. A regular Outlander 650 in that condition usually costs more than that.

Next up will be 2" lift, clutch kit, and some 29's or 30's. I can never leave well enough alone :-)
