I bought my buddy's 2000 "Bomb" last week, It's an awsome machine but I need more bottom end torque. Anybody have any recommendations for aftermarket exhaust? Are the slip on's effective or do I need a complete exhaust with head pipes? Any jetting recommendations? How about air box mods? Any advice would be appreciated!

As I research the possible purchase of an aftermarket pipe for my DS650, one thing I have noticed is that ALL of them give gains in the low end. The question then becomes: how much, and does it have any gains on top, how loud is it, and will it hold up?

From what I have seen, the slip ons are a decent choice.

I'm currently examining three different slip ons:
White Brothers E-Series
Custom X
FMF

I'm currently most interested in the Custom X, as the people who own them have nothing but positive things to say about it. They've also produced a more powerful and quieter version now. This pipe (slip on) almost sounds too good to be true.

The E-Series looks like a good pipe, but I have not found anyone who owns one for comparison or evaluation.

One DS650 owner in this forum has just purchased the FMF, but he has only had it since last weekend so it remains to see how well it works in the long run - though FMF does seem to build decent equipment.

I have the Alba pipe and QwikSilver carburetor I have pick up about 3- 4 hp top and about 14 hp in the mid range. I have too just about sit on the handlebars in second gear starts to keep the front end down. The carburetor should be out soon. If you want more see Knutz in L.V. Nv. and get one of his big bore kits.

I have not had a chance to ride with my fmf slip on, but so far i like it instalation was quick and easy, fit and finish are great. It Sounds deep and smooth its not overly loud at all. The silencer it self is bigger around than my biggun and it came already with spark arrester in place.I will ride this weekend for sure so ill report on how it performes!
