The QS and the Mikuni are both flatslide carbs and flow more air. It is cause they due not have a butterfly which can reduce the bore size by 20% to 25%; depends on who you ask.

The 40MM flat slide will flow almost exactly the same CFM as the 42MM CV carb. The advantage is that it is directly linked to the throttle and not dependant on vacume to open the throttle blade or raise the needle. This direct link takes a little time to set up for each individual motor, so manufacturers don't like to use it, but offers much better responce than CV carbs.

As far as what carb works best for your application, it depends on what you want. If you ride at peak RPM most of the time, the 45MM might be right for you. If you want a broader power curve to ride over a larger rev range, I would recomend the 40MM, but understand that that would give you slightly lower peak HP numbers than the 45.

Knutz, You offer a 45mm carb, right.. Does is hesitate like R/W's. So if your saying the 45mm will give you more power at high RPM's than the 40mm, then 45mm will be better for Drags, Right..
Thats mainly what I am doing. What kinda $$$$ for these 2 carbs..

Thank, Hall650

TVI power & sports in Hillboro,Oregon has intalled a number of dual carb set-ups on the DS,the frame modifications didnt sound as bad as I thought so might try it.They are going to send me some pics of a recent install, then I will decide if I want to go that route or not.I dont know about low-end loss(if any)or cost of the carbs,or what size I would need with the TP 760 kit
