I have been struggling with being able to compete with banshees having anything more than just a pipe, for sand drags. I think you'll want at least a 20 peak HP gain.

I am 46 years old, at 250 lbs and I spanked just about everything except alcohol bigbore 2-strokes.
My mild port job was just, cleaning up the head by a local atv mechanic, and the rest was simple bolt on stuff.
It pulls VERY hard!!!!!
If you add the cams, the valve clearance will have to be adjusted by using new bucket shims. They are availible at BMW dealers.
Other than the valve adjustment everything else is easy.
The manual says that you have to pull the motor to get the head and cylinder off.DON'T DO IT!!!
All you have to do is trim the backside of the rear headstay off, so it will clear the frame.
