I found out why the front shocks are not all that great along with being a factory supplier to Bomb they (Arvin) also make shocks for Freightliner trucks and they don't last on them either I thought it was pretty intresting that the same manufacter of ATV shocks also caters to the class 8 truck market.

I dont find that that odd. I work for a large hydralic cylinder manufacturer and we make all different sorts and sizes. From little cylinders that are only 1/2" in rod diamiter and les than a foot long to huge ones that are around 25 foot long when fully retracted. Companies have to deversify in order to make a living any more. I am willing to bet they make a lot more shocks than most people are aware of.

Rumor has it that nothing on a Freightliner lasts very long - at least if you talk to someone who owns a Peterbuilt or KenWorth. Of all the trucks in the industry, you wont find more 'jokes' about any other maker/model.

Andrew I work at Rosenboom Machine and Tool in Sheldon Iowa. We are not a real large company such as Eaton but we are rapidly taking over a lot of major corperations cylinder production. We have always made a lot of cylinders for Altec but over the next few years we will be acquiring all of there buisness. And we make cylinders for Snorkel Corp. and McNelius. There are several major companies and a lot of small ones that we cater to. Just a year ago we opened our second plant. Like I said we are much smaller than Eaton but we are growing.

p.s. What is your position at Eaton? I am a CNC Machinest.
I would like to move out of this area so if your ever in the need for a machinest let me know.

99500,
I was a shift leader. But they cut out my job after 5 + years in that position. They have cut positions & stirred up alot of problems. It's a bad place right now. I just went to a TPM training course last week in MI though. They are training me in that, maybe it will open doors.
We have many CNC/Lathe/Bar machines in our plant. My plant employs around 1000 people. Not all in maching though.
I'll warn you though, Van Wert, OH is kinda boring

Ya that is one thing that I am glad abought RMT has never laid off or cut one singe position in its 25+ year history. We are up to around 350-400 emploees total now and the last year was slow but we managed to make it. It is finaly starting to pick up again. We have several new potential costemers right now. One of them will be a $25 million a year customer. For us that is a large account considering that we are curently only a $40million company. If we get all of our potental customers or only a few of the big ones and our old ones pick back up to last years rates we will be working 60+ hour weeks. And for beeing a boring area, I am used to that. The most exitment we have around here is watching the corn grow.
