i've found a dealer selling a 2000 traxter for 6099. is this a good price?
I've also found another dealer with a leftover 1999. what would be a good price for that?
Also, for all you traxter owners, knowing what you do know, would you buy it again?

TIA JOhn C

jfccac,
This is just my two cents worth but here it goes.

Where I work we have a 1999 Traxter, I believe that they paid $7199.00 (US) for it. So if you can purchase a 2000 model for $6099.00 that would be a savings of $1100.00 over what my boss paid. If you want a Traxter that is a very appealling price!

Our work Traxter has approx. 850 Km and the only problem we have had (that I am aware of) is a blown fuse. We use it mostly for utility and an occasional trail ride (only when the boss sayes it is okay, in case he is reading this). The step through frame is nice when the rear rack is loaded, and the 500cc Rotax has plenty of torque for pulling (especially in low range). Trail riding at anything above a spirted pace, the Traxter show it weight. The Posi-Traction front differential is amazing!! Everyone at work agrees that it pulls through mud better than any of our other ATV's (1999 Sportsman 500 & 1997 Foreman 400).

Would my boss buy another Traxter? Well that is hard too say, but I think he probably would. Our Traxter has been as reliable as the other two ATV's. So if you are looking for a utility oriented ATV, I think a Traxter is great choice expecially at $6099.00.

jfccac, John is right, that is a super good price on the Traxter.Though I personally disagree with him thinking the Traxter is better in mud than the Sportsman, you are really getting a good deal on this quad.I'd go for it.The Traxter is a very capable 4x4.====BILL

I paid $6500 for my 2000 Traxter and so far I think it is an awesome machine. It could use a primer for cold weather starting though.

Haard starting the Traxter, I had the same problem, sojme times I had to remove the air filter and choke it by hand over the carb intake.
Then on Feb 18 it snowed in Harrisburg Pa when we were pushing the sprint cars into the arena from the parking lot, My traxter would not idle outside (Temp about 25-28 f) in side the building ir run perfectly.
I talked to the dealer about the no idleing, they contacted factory, found the idle mixture was too lean, so we richened it up 1/4 turn, now have plenty of choke and runs great/better.
Hope this give you an idea.

Thanks,
Mine idles fine in cold weather - after I get it started and warmed up. I already had my dealer adjust the carb. It was too rich causing it to backfire. It seems to get plenty of gas with the choke. You can smell the gas and the plugs are wet when I took 'em out. I dried and heated up the plugs, put 'em back in and it started.

Having test-ridden a Traxter early-on, its many innovative and clever features (e.g., BIG storage compartment, smooooth shifting, total engine access, "stealth" radiator and fan, etc.) impressed me greatly. However, on your dealer's carb adjustment, backfiring is usually a symptom of a mixture too fuel-lean, rather than fuel-rich. Regardless, I'm glad you've got it right now. Enjoy your outstanding machine!
