What happened to third gear
#1
I was riding @ Gordens this weekend and had an intresting problem. I could not shift from second into third gear without using the clutch. I tried it under power and while cruising the flats. I am wondering if I bent a shift fork. Has anyone out there had this problem? I am planning to do some mods that may nessitate splitting the case. Has anyone seen if Andrew Gears are making parts for the DS650.

Didn't you answer your own question there? Lots of factory riders don't use their clutch,,,but they get free and constant rebuilds. The DS tranny is sure better than that there Raptor, but shifting without using the clutch is gonna catch up with you. You wouldn't know it wouldn't shift into third without using the clutch, unless that's what you do.
......If you do end up splitting your cases, check the engagement dogs for rounding and your shift forks for alignment. Check to see if the dogs are fully engaging. LOL

A little off the subject but in the same area. I just replaced my clutch plates and disc with Barnett's. The fiction plates had one tab that was colored, but the stock ones didn't. So I lined them up and installed them (had to alter the last plate to fit). My question is this:
Is there a place on the basket that the colored tabs are to be installed?
The reason why I'm asking is that my clutch doesn't want to disengage when cold. Once the engine oil heats up a bit, it's fine.
Any thoughts?
