I just changed the oil in my new baja. Is this supposed to be a joke? How are you supposed to drain the oil without getting it all over your frame and skid? Or is this Bombardiers way of rust proofing

I don't mind changing the oil. The bottom drain isn't the problem (I have a prm skid with the hole for the drain plug), it's the resevoir at the top. How can you avoid the mess it makes. As soon as the plug is removed oil is all over. I tried using a funnel but it fills up to quick and overflows. Am I the only one that thinks that changing oil shouldn't be that big of a mess?

Your not suppose to take that plug out the manual says to drain the reservoir by taking off the hose that goes to the motor.

There really in no clean way to do an oil change. It's just something we have to live with. I've experimented with cleaner methods, but it ends up being more work than just making the mess and then cleaning it.

it can't be as bad as the raptor. It takes a hour to do it correctly. Add a pro-design and double the pleasure. Brian does not do mine. Maybe yamaha copied bombs.

The Honda Rubicon is a joke too. It must be the dues we have to pay, or something like that.

Your not alone, the way Bomb set it up is lame. Instead of using a curved piece of tubing to go under the radiator they should have made a junction block with a drain plug in it. but engineers apparantly don't work on them, they just build them. When you follow the manual's advice of removing the hose, it still makes an unneccessary mess. But then if you don't tilt the quad at a radical angle before removing the oil filter cover, it makes a mess there too. The cleanup takes longer than the service.

Thanks DSWOLF that makes sense to drain it from the hose. It should be a lot easier that way. My owners manual doesn't say that and it never occured to me to remove that hose. Thanks for the idea.
