Spocket size?

I was topped out in third gear on olds,it pulled almost all the way top.4th gear..it would only slow me down a tad.I need a high comp piston and cams and a full exhaust.I think with this combo i should pull 4th gear.Im 260# this set up works great for me, but if you weigh 150# you should be able to kick a$$ on a lotaly stock ds.

two questions
1. with your sprocket change did you have to lengthen your chain- if so 1 or 2 links?
2. what type of rear sprocket protection do you have? stock or other?

If you are concerned about chain length go with a 14 front and leave the rear at 40, the stock chain length works fine. 14/40 = 2.857, 15/43 = 2.867...not much difference in ratio between the two set ups. The front sprocket is much easier to change than the rear. I have yet to install my 41 tooth rear sprocket.
