Thanks guys, I will definately get some shrouds and a gauge, Then when my fan goes out one of these days I will try running without it and see what happens. I would think with shrouds and no fan the airflow through the radiator would be pretty good, We'll see.

Thanks agian, Biggerisbetter.

Speaking of cooling etc, I just added some Aluminum Radiator shrouds ($59.99 CT Racing) and the Engine Ice coolant. I'm hoping to go riding this weekend (assuming I don't have to work) at Ocotillo Wells SVRA (near Glamis) and see how it does. I'm hoping that with both the 'super' coolant and shrouds it'll keep it running a lot cooler. If it makes any notable difference I'll let everybody know.

That sounds like a good combo. Just what I need to trash the fan.

Marky, any info yet on the difference between the two fans yet. Not trying to hurry you or anything.

Thats good we need more people and manufactures to support us DS owners. We also need more aftermarket manufactures to make DS parts to help drive the prices down we're paying for the parts now. The prices are insane.

My 00' DS is still on the original fan. The fan still works after 2 years of Glimas, Mexico, Cinders and desert riding. It ran alot this last June and September in Glimas and is still working. The only thing I've done is keep it clean and I sprayed dry silicone around the motor so it would repel water.

I probably just blew my good luck, so where do I get a replacement?

Hurycne,

I just got back from a riding trip after installing the Engine Ice and Aluminum Radiator Shrouds. The results were amazing! Over the course of the trip the fan came on ONCE. (Thats how I know it was still working.) The temperature during the day was about 65-ish, which in the past has been plenty enough to make the fan come on while riding around at low speeds. I think this has been one of the single best additions I've installed yet.

Marky,

The ones I have came from CT Racing for $59.99. www.ctracing.com. I added some rubberish tape (the stuff I found was for a bathtub to tile was sealer, I wouldn't buy it twice, but it worked.) to keep from having metal to metal contact of radiator shroud to radiator. I have a feeling this prevents some heat transfer from the radiator to the shroud, but it still does warm up the shroud allowing it to do some cooling. That is why I liked the aluminum over carbon fiber (not even considering the price was half) the fact that in addition to bringing more air to the radiator, it actually sucks away a little extra heat on it's own. Kinda a 2 for one deal.
