Everyone that has a 2000-2001 DS has a fan problem. As far as I know all you can do is replace the fan. I have found a place that sells them cheap compaired to the Bombardier dealer. http://www.offroadwarehouse.com has the replacement Spal for $71.99.

My stock fan lasted me over a year so if there is a differance I may not mind paying the $99.00 but if not I'm going for the Spal at Offroadwarehouse.com for $71.99

Vegas, would the radiator shrouds take the place of the fan in the dunes? I always ride in open places and I here good things about the Shrouds, My fan comes on all the time, it seems to much, even when I know I have'nt flogged my machine that much. Do they sell a tempature gauge for the DS like they do for the Banshee? And if so what is concidered high temp for the DS.

I wouldn't want to say the shrouds take the place of a fan. But they help. AZSAND runs without a fan or shrouds and he lives in Phoenix and we all know how hot it gets down there. Warp Drive makes a temp. gauge, it splices into the upper radiator hose. In the paper work I got with mine it says that 200* is cosidered HOT.

Hey bigger im not the final word on the subject but my experiecnce has been the fan comes on way to much any way.if you check the engine temp when your fan comes on it comes on at about 205 deg
i choose to run at 220 which is where she preforms her best and she never over heats.but i dont let her set and idle either i use a laser temp guage.and i zone out all the time i throw on the pump album and head toward patton.all the time at warp speed none stop
12 miles around trip thru the dunes.and no over heating.
GOOD LUCK!!!

Roonds, I hit a tree with mine and the fan stoped. I took it off and tore into it. It was two of the four brush wires that had broken off. I simply soldered them back on and touched up the other two and it has been working great. It was a little tricky getting back together but not to bad. Good luck.
