The springs are the "old' RWR type. I've had them for 6 + months now. I had the bike in for some other work and thought it was a good time to put them in. The factory clutch was NOT slipping t all before the HD spring install. Also where is the "cheapest" place to buy a new clutch? Should I just change the friction plates if the rest looks ok or just change it all? REMINDER, I'm on a budget as I suspect most are.

I'm as confused as you Hurycne, but it was NOT slipping before the new springs and only starts slipping in the mid gear though the top end of a gear. Not only that it starts in 3rd gear through 5th only.

I doubt I need new plates yet. I guess I'm going to try to adjust the cable or something for now. Sundays are big ride days for me so I need a quick fix for now.

In response to all the pissy attitudes , i guess i'll throw in my .02.Pro asked not to hear what he should have done and i am sure it was taken well as a joke. What wasn't said was that he has had the springs for 6 months long before some of us were aware Pami makes HD springs(I'd bought Pami then myself).Of course we are now aware of (better) springs but that is coming from you.Thats what you sell.I'm glad you believe in your products but i'm not taking the word of ANY salesman on his product.I was looking at a geo metreo and the salesman swore to me his metro was better at mudding than a CJ 7.I didn't believe him.I'd have to see it.For you (Knutz) to say your not into helping your compititions products work better,is well pretty sh#tty. Were talking about clutch springs here, not how to stroke a Rw kit for more HP than a Pami kit.I don't think anyone should offer that kinda information. The problem is with his DS which if we all remember is why we are hear in the 1st place. To learn more and offer assistance.Your(Knutz) stance was apparently to sell more of your products and bash RW again instead of offering some SIMPLE information.Only after Scooby gave advice did you want to step up and speak. As far as the Dell Compaq comment, Progressive insurance company will give you three quotes off there website for auto insurance.even if thiers isn't the cheapest.Thats customer service.Thats what brings customers and WILL bring back customers. My .02.Take it or leave it.Also thanks for all the help i have recieved in this forum from everyone.

WOW!! this getting interesting here!
ProEMTPFF,I wasn't trying to start a flame myself, just trying to let you know there where (2) type of RW springs and also what I had done.
On another note recently a friend while doing work on his DS also put in heavier springs, and had the same problem you did.It turned out he had also changed his counter sprocket at the same time.Well to get to the point he had installed the sprocket backward causing the chain to drag or bind against the case ........thus causing his clutch to slip.

double check your clutch is fully engaged when the lever is released.

the teeth broke off the shaft and cam during normal operation months after installing the HD springs.

Mobil 15W50 full synthetic auto oil did not slip the 9/9 carbon fiber/kevlar barnett clutch running HD springs running a turbo. I'm not recommending this oil, I'm just pointing this out. I am running a different oil now.

Hey PRO, What recommended oil did the shop put in? I myself screwed up and put Mobil 10w/40 in my bike and soon after my clutches started slipping, And my clutch slips the EXCACT way yours does.

On another note: If you read you opening thread, I think you'll agree that you came off pretty harsh towards PAMI products, wether you meant to or not. So you can't really blame Knutz for feeling alittle defensive at first.

Biggerisbetter- Are you headed to the dunes this weekend? I still think everyone should help each other out. It is not ALL TOP secret. If i can help someone out, i'll try. I send potential customers to defferent people if i feel my competitors can better serve thier needs. I could keep them but in the long run no one ends up happy. Like i said in a eariler post there might have been a reason he did not buy the pami springs. Turned out there was. Now lets help him solve the problem. My biggest problem is not money, but mechanical knowledge. So when i want to do something i have to hire it out. Picking the right products is tough. These forums are not always accrurate. Example- ask about a pipe and every one swears theres is the best. How the heck do you figure that one out. I go on record as saying there is not 500 dollars difference between you modded cap and 3 other bombs i ride with.

Yes, I know there is 2 different RWR clutch springs now. I have the "older" ones and have had them for 6 months now but just decided to put them on the latest oil change. No change of counter sprockets. As far as the oil goes they put Yama Lube 10w-40 in it. Anyone tried this oil or have problems with it?

biggerisbetter, I was'nt being harsh towards PAMI products. All I was trying to say is I wanted a answer not to hear "well you SHOULD have bought "whoever" springs, then you would'nt have this problem" that is'nt a answer I was needing. Maybe I should have bought them BUT that point is mute and why I said what I did it the opening thread. So NO I don't agree I was harsh on Knutz or his product.
