Clutch question.....................
#1
I just had the shop install my RWR heavy clutch springs. While they were there they said my clutch plates looked "good" not great and not bad. I went home fired the DS up, let it warm up and took her for a spin. As I went through the gears nice and easy they felt fine. Then I decided to get on it from a stop. Now as I went through the gears at the begining of every gear felt good mut the mid through top of every gear slipped bad. The shop put the recomended 10w/40 in it. So now for the question, what is making this thing slip and what can I do to fix it. Also I don't want to hear how I SHOULD have bought the Pami springs, don't want or need to hear....ok? Just tell me how to fix it if you think you know.
Thanks

JEFF!, bad boy! He doesn't want to hear "we told you so"[lol], so I'll just keep quiet.
Have you contacted Ron Woods Racing about this to ask their opinion? I have an idea how to help, but I just can't find it in me to give advice on how to make my competetors products work as well as mine. Sorry

Barnett clutch.
Always have to change clutch fricton plates after slippage.
Could shim the springs you have: similar clutch info here http://faq.f650.com/MainIndex/Clutch.htm
Warning: I have had the clutch activator shaft teeth and cam gear teeth break off with HD clutch springs.

I asked the forum for some help not JUST Knutz. Look, I have a problem now with my DS. I was wanting help without smart@** remarks about what I SHOULD have bought. So with that said I will call RWR, they have been VERY helpful in the past as I'm sure they will be this time too. I will also continue to buy RWR products. Knutz, I was in a hurry and needed answers. Sorry for being "pissy" BUT if you did'nt have a answer to help just don't answer. You don't ALWAYS need to take jabs at RWR. Any you had a chance to earn my business and my brothers. Ever heard the expression "you catch more flies with honey than vinager"?

If every good dead brings 10 back, then I gotta have millions owed to me[lol].
Scooby is right, shimming may help, but be very carefull about coil bind. If you shim too much, the clutch will not be able to move it's full range. RWR springs are only slightly stronger than stock, so slightly worn plates will still allow slippage.
I wouldn't count on Barnett clutchs holding any better than stock. I have lots of customers that use stock clutchs and **** **** springs behind huge motors and/or large shots of nitrous and only one reported cluch problem so far[that customer used oil that he was advised against].
I too have seen shaft activator teeth break off as well, but every single time, it was the result of improper cover installation. If the cover does not slide on, DO NOT tap, bang, or pound the cover on in any way! If it takes anything more than wiggling the cover, remove it, check that everything is lined up properly, and try again.

<< Knutz, I thought you was a nice guy. Ya just lost two potential customers. LOL >>
Please, I've given all sorts of free advice and you went with RW springs anyway, despite hearing that Team Pami's were better. If I lost a "potential customer" because I didn't want to help you make my competitions product work good enough to avoid purchasing mine, well, that's too bad. The way I look at it, you were lost as a potential customer already anyway when you chose his product and stated in your post that you didn't want to hear about mine. No problem, competition is competition, and I have no problem with that. From a consumer point of view, I think it's great that we have a choice. But to throw that statement at me because I didn't want to help you with RWR products, that's just silly. Why not a post to Eli54 that they just lost an existing customer because they didn't step up with help?
By the way, I was typing my previous help when your post about me "losing 2 potential customers" was posted. Whatever; good luck

I wonder if anyone has tried calling Compaq, for support of their Dell PC, and then gotten mad at Compaq for not wanting to provide support for the Dell PC? Everyone knows that the Dell needs more support (they get good support ratings because they have to fix problems more often) but that doesn't mean you'll be able to convince Compaq, Gateway or even Sony to help you with it.
(No harm intended to the owners of Dell machines out there, and no I don't own any of the other machines.)
