Hey I just used maxima 20/50 4 stroke oil for replacement (came recommended from local shop) and my clutch was not releasing in higher gears for a second or two.

Any suggestions would be great. It really sucked because I couldn't test the top end performance on the lectron carb I was running this weekend. Help if you anyone has suggestions. I don't understand why 1st or 2nd weren't grabbing also?

Hopefully it's not something like mine. I thought my gears were slipping this weekend just after an oil change and it progressed very rapidly to the point where the clutch seemed to be working but I had no gears. In first through fourth (was never able to get to fith) it was like being in top gear and there was no resistance in the gear lever. I was riding in Octillo Wells over the weekend so I just dropped it off there. I'm waiting to hear what the problem was. I'm praying my extended warranty picks it up or I'm out major $$$'s.

quicksand,

You ride at Ocotillo Wells as well? We ought to hook up some time, I used to live in Rancho Santa Margarita, now I'm up here by Magic Mountain. Do you ever go to Hungry Valley or Dove Springs/Jawbone Canyon?

Thanks for the info everyone. I am ordering some Pami springs. Just had a gut feeling to give them a try. Nothing against RWR my buddies have a variety of his stuff and it seems to be very good.

Thanks again. Any suggestions on the type of oil (to thick, wrong brand, etc.)?

Gmann, also where did you get the billet thumb throttle kit.does it work well with the lectron? my dealer said he would have to mod. mine to make the lectron to work,i think he said it needed more room inside the housing for the throttle to open up completely.i may be wrong.

Chop,
Just had the first trip with the carb. It took some adjusting to get it dialed in, but I think I am pretty close now. I had to richen it up quite a bit and put a much larger pilot jet in (still needed a larger one). I made a nice custom air filter and hose (with metal pipe in side) that won't squeeze and limit air flow. It flowed much better than I expected it to and of course the carb wanted to breathe more and I needed a bigger jet. Bottom end was superb but top end was lacking because needed more gas.

The billet throttle kit is worth the money even though it is an ugly blue color ($100 with cable). It opens up the throttle much more than the stocker.

Of course with all the new torque created the stock clutch springs just wouldn't handle the power. Slipping was only a matter of time. Getting new springs quickly to splve the problem.

Hope all this helps. The carb is easy to adjust, it just takes some getting used to.

Chop,
I am running nine paddle haulers. They hook up great on the hill and I can still dune them. They are solid tires.
