I am debating putting in a high comp piston and some new cams. What kind of power increase would I see and is it worth it. Any problems with it. If anyone is running these please post what can be expected.

Bat if you are not in a hurry wait till you ride the 703 on Mem. day. You won't be dissapointed.

Isnt the 703 a long way from just a piston and cams? Last time I checked the 703 did not even come with cams just the piston???

Bat- give me 2 weeks or so and I'll let you know- I'll be curious to see how I do against the 703 on memorial day-( I won't take you with the nitrous unless I have too) really hope you can make it Vegas. I do believe Jeff has a cam and piston upgrade in the Baja- how's it running Jeff?

Yeah, I have always had the fever, but I just keep debating whether or not I want to go into the engine. But I think I will sooner or later. I just want to find out what kind of gains can be made by changing out the piston and cams, or going to the 703.

I will not be doing anything overnight, so I will most likely wait until I get a chance to ride the sandpig.

Bat, i just installed the rwr stage 2 kit and love it. i was waiting also to see how it does against the sandpig. however i did get to ride the pig and it is fast and smooth. it definitely has more power than just the piston and cams, just how much is what i was wanting to see.
my group consists of three modified banshees(pipes, reeds, carbs, and filters) two modified raptors(pipes gearing and filters)and so far i'm still the fastest.

Majorecho,
I tried to swap cams and piston at the last moment before going to Sand Mtn last weekend.Well the cams I ordered(race 1) did not come in so Knutz let me have some sport cams for the time being.I put the piston (12:1)in no problem, but after I put the cams in I found I didn't have thick enough shims(was 020 short)...........Rats
So I ran the stock cams and Pami piston w/stock carb.
It ran about 3 bike lengths behind a RW stage 2,it was also running lean and I was already running the biggest main jet I had a dynojet 195.I would have tried moving the clip on the needle, but with a sand and oil (from the breather)stuck to the carb I decided not to take the carb apart.

Yes the 703 does not come with a cam. It also cost more and there is more down time, unless you do the work yourself. It was just my two cents for someone that wants to go faster.
