Should I get a DS650?

Ok, I just missunderstood. I agree useless roosting is endangering the foressts if it tears up the trail. But I tell ya what, piano wire is some scary stuff and I would go extra slow around the trails if tree huggers have been reported there. Also, do all the 01 Raptors have weak tranny's? And if so how much does it cost to fix them?

I don't know if all the trannies are weak. Mine is fine and has not had a problem. I know the topic comes up often and it seems as though there are only a handful that can say theirs has had a problem. I know of one personally and that is it. My dealer says that they have had one come back for the tranny repair and that is not the one I know of. So, I guess that makes two. I am sure that there is a problem, but I think it seems a little isolated.
They made over 25000 of these units and it seems that only a few have had a tranny problem.
It can be upgraded to the 2002 gears if wanted and also there is a company called fortin making a gear set for the raptor. I am not sure on the costs of these.

That is so funny. People are so touchy. Obviously I dont go roosting everyone. I was JOKING. Man some people have no sense of humor. I have an e series muffler with a spark arrestor so what is wrong with that?
People need to relax a little bit.

Hey Charlie, it's all good. Sorry we were so hard on you. I think it is a good thing that we can poke a little fun at each other, especially when it comes to the future of our sport. If we can raise consciousness about tread lightly, excessive noise, and wearing helmets, by telling a few jokes HERE, on this Forum, then that is a good thing.
......The ATV industry and press is sorely deficient in getting the message out. We have to show them, and everyone out there, that we are not just a bunch of unthinking "Dudes" that only want to "Roost their Buds!".

Taking our riding areas away is serious business in my book but so I like to strike the iron when its hot. I got pissy, made my point then I went riding . Like fourlix said, "its all good"

wow, I just went and looked at a raptor, ex and DS. I like the DS most of all. The thing is awesome, and it wasnt anywhere near as big as everyone made it out to be. The guy at the dealer said come back during the day and I can ride it. I lover the suspension on it, it looks great. He said that the reason the DS is so heavy is because the frame is made from beefier steel. I would take durability over light weight any day.

My brother is 5' 8" and 160 and has a Bomber and he has said don't get me wrong I love my DS but if I could do it over I would probably get the Canondale. We ride up in New England and it is mostly all trails and the DS is a handful don't let anyone kid you. You can ride it through the trails and when it gets out to the open areas there is no better ride but in the tight stuff it is hard work. I had a Canibal but traded it in on a Raptor just because I am not a racer and the Raptor had better low speed manors than the Canondale. I ride with my kids alot and it's easier to ride slow with the kids than the canondale yet when I go out with the boys it can still rip. The DS is also great at just chugging along with the kids (if that is a concern as it was for me). The DS has a great motor that can rip and also putt putt around just like the raptor. The cannondale is more like a two stroke it wants to br revved and ridden hard. The suspension is stiff when ridden slow on the canondale but perfect when ridden hard. If racing or track riding I would go Canondale, desert or dunes mostly I'd go DS, Trails mostly 400EX or Raptor. They can all do what the others do and they are all great quads just some are better at certain things.
