Broken cam
#11
Yeah the motor is all apart but noone is open this weekend. On Tues he is going to order a piston and cams combo but we dont know from who yet. He wants the cams from Knutz and the 12.0 piston from Sam Coe. He wants the race 1 cam but I think he is going to have to go with sport cams.

Seriously, if you really want to re-use that cam bridge, check it very carefully. Measure the bore diameter of the chain side hole. Use an inside micrometer, not a Vernier caliper. Measure it on the horizontal plane as well as the verticle plane. Measure it inside and out side. If any of these measurement come up more than .001" off, replace the bridge. I would rather sell you a new bridge[at my cost] and give you a used stock cam[in perfect shape] so I make no money at all, than sell you new cams and see them destroyed if the bridge is damaged.
There was alot of side force on that one journal after the cam broke, and the damage to it may not be evident at all. I'm not trying to hassle you, just help. $94.89 is cheap insurance. I'd replace it if it were mine, and I'm poor.

thanks knutz, i will probably be calling you tommorow on it. to be honest i am going to order your sport cams and spring kit from you, and a 12to1 piston from sam coe. will this combo work together. im thinking it will. your 12to1 is a little more than i was wanting to spend on a piston. if i was going with the race cams i know there piston wouldnt work with your race cams, but i want a all around cam. with there 12to1 piston(JE 189$ with all pins and rings)and your sport cams(495$ with valve springs kit included i think)puts me around 600$ plus gaskets and shipping puts me at around 700$. about the amount i was wanting to spend. if a bridge is needed it will be done. really dont want to tear in to this thing again till the 830 or whatever is available to me or my pocket book. any comments are greatly appreciated. not bashing on the price of your piston but it is out of range for me. thank you

I also want to get some head work done. It cold be in the buget soon. any ideas on things i could do to it personally or any specs or info on what to do and where to cut so i can get things done by my local machine shop. he is a friend of mine and will do things for me for next to nothing, but i would hate to cut on it and make things worse or do no good to it.
