AUTO METER TACH
#1
Anybody know where to get the autometer tach for less than 200.00? And what the phase is on the ds650 ignition? Will a regular 4cycle 4 6 8 cyl tach work or do you have to have a motorcycle tach? If a car tach works anybody know how to hook it up..????

I don't know about the autometer. I got the Baja dash mount tach from dealer - whole kit cost me $129.00 Somebody said the price went up since I got it though....check into it.
Phase? Not sure what you need here. if you talking when she fires, I think its 10 degrees advanced of TDC. there is a sticker under the seat that tells you I think - I saw it somewhere on the bike anyway.
Ron Wood and Pami CDI'c advance timing differently at different rpm's, supposedly, for max gain throughout rev range, and have no limiter.
I don't know if multi-cylinder tachs work on a single.

I picked up a tach kit through my dealer in town. They put together a tach and the Baja dash (so I didn't have to cut the plastic.) It was about $200 for the kit. I would suggest going this way rather than trying to piece it together.
Anytime Power Sports has the kit: 916-489-9892. It has instructions with it. I did notice an issue with the wiring but, I think that is because yellow DS wires are different colors than the Black DS wires (not their fault). The issue was with the connection off the key. I had to use the other one (can't remember the color). You will know it is an issue if your key is off but the light on the tach is on. If so, just switch them.
That needle sure bounces when it hits the limiter.
