DS Days, Where should it be? Cast your vote!!!

I would prefer Sand Mountain, NV. But I am a bit biased .
No matter where you go, it will be without a permit. Informal gatherings are NOT against the law.
Sand Mountain, NV - 2002
Little Sahara, UT - 2003

I can understand that Jon. I actually thought that making your clean up an intrigal part of our event, BLM would see that we would be a benifit and give us some consideration on the permit. I really appreciate the help you gave me in trying to pull it off. As things sit now, I'd rather go someplace that I don't have to worry about being hassled if too many of us gather together. It will be nice to have a strong DS showing at the King Of The Hill event in Utah.
A different week, or mid-week[?] might work out nice for those that live close by, or don't work for someone else, but it makes it harder for those that work 5 days a week and have a long drive.
Who was offering the wash behind their shop? That's sounding better all the time. Maybe we should just have hundreds of little DS gatherings, right by everyones home. Wait, that would be like any other weekend. The idea is to make it eaqually easy for as many as possible, so we can get a big showing. I see this thing falling apart already now. Let's make the call now, so we can all be together on it.
UTAH![?]
We'll never get everyone to agree, but if we don't decide, it won't be much.

I really dont think that the BLM rangers are going to hastle us once we're there. If they feel the need to devote their limited resources to hastling a bunch of law-abiding, tax paying Americans that have every right to be there then they have serious management issues. A major letter writing campagne can take care of that. If they pi$$ off enough people and letters are written, guys like that get transferred to other locations. I hear there is an opening in Alaska .
On the other hand, if we go there and have fun without the scheduled events, i.e. poker run, organized hill and drag races ect, and just race as everybody else does, They don't have a leg to stand on. At least we can use the rider turn-out from this event to gauge and prepare for next years event. Oh yah, We can have a hell of a good time too

Well it really does'nt matter to me, But if I drive 20+ hours I definatly don't want to be hassled! I want to meet everyone and thats it. I don't want to have to answer questions on "who I'm with", or do "we" have a permit. I know that may be "worst case" but it would be my luck. Utah sounds like a really nice place AND it has more dunes!, I don't want to have to be changing tire's to go trail riding. I have taken Vacation regardless, So I am coming, where ever we decide. I just don't want to be some where I'm not welcome.

Well of course I am going to go by the votes because I really dont give a $hit where it is as long as it happens. I see alot of people that are willing to ravel a long long ways and others not so willing but not everyone will be able to make to one spot and others wont be able to others. So it has to be somewhere, period. I have to admit my vote is still for UT and I think the hill draggs would be awesome to see.
I went back and wrote down everyons name so that they dont get counted twice and tally'd the votes. As of right now the votes are:
6 Sand Mtn. NV
14 Little Sahara/Sand Mtn UT
1 St. Anthony's ID
5 dont care where but they are coming.
The hard thing about this is, Who has the final call. Knutz and Jeff are the ones that originaly did this last year as just a small ride and the idea spawned from there. As for me all I did was start the threads so I dont think I have any final say. I am with Knutz, and think he is the one really had the idea along with Jeff. Problem there is I think they are divided but I know Jeffs is because of prior engagment. So I guess what I am getting at with Knutz vote being UT and the majority rules vote, UT it is. Please noone get your feelings hurt, but it has to be somewhere. Let me know if anyone thinks this isnt fair but please remember it needs to happen and there are lots of areas and times but it cant be everywhere and every weekend but it has to start somewhere.
Thanks for your consideration,

You are not going to be hassled. There just won't be any official prizes for fastest quad on a roped off course. There will be plenty of drags that weekend. And there is nothing against an unofficial prize going to the fastest DS650. You just can't put out flyers announcing an organized event.
Jon
