Yea me too. I got rid of the junk. It's not a clickable link for now. I'll get someone to fix it for me.

Took my ds to the shop. Where i ride is in louisiana and its hot year around. waiting to see what they say. is there anything i can do to help prevent this from occuring again. My temp. light came on quickly. after about three drag races in the sand. Temp on day was around 85.

Mine did the exact thing also after some riding in the sand but mine also overheated, it didnt damage anything but its hard to believe you dont need a fan because since the fan was replaced it never has over heated again.just my 2 cents.

Maybe you guys are oveheating without a fan for other reasons, and the fan is just covering it up...i.e. way too lean on the mix, etc...just a thought...even in Indiana it gets over 100, I don't need a fan, temp light has never came on.

I agree with Hightower... There must be something else wrong! Sandsurfer and I have gone to Glamis in Aug and rode all day with temps at 115 f +, My fan only came on after a long time at idle and maybe 2-3 times when pulling a long hill. My DS is a 2000 with at least 50 trips to the dunes, Mexico and desert trail rides. The fan is the original, it comes on now and then and my light has never come on when the engine is running.

Just my $.02, but I would think you either lean or low on water or oil.
