just my second time out on my baja. im just about through the break in and started getting on it when i noticed that when i shift into 3rd at high rpm that i really have to basicly use the top of my foot to get it in gear cause i can pop it in with the front of my boot. any ideas??? im not much of a motorhead and would really like your input. one more question. i would like to get to know my DS throughout and was wondering if i bought the full service manual would i be able to do all the service myself including the 10hrs service. thanks guys......... oh yea... i luv it!!!!!!!

I wear motorcross boots, so i had to move my shifter up one notch in order to shift with the top of my boot.

Ugly, I think you might have typoed there... "cause I CAN pop it in". Should that be CAN'T?? If you can't pop it in then you could be in trouble. That's what mine started to do. The tranny started to get really notchy and then I was having a very difficult time getting into gear. I took it to the dealer and thank god it was under warranty because I needed over $1,000 dollars worth of work to get it fixed. Everything that actually that makes the tranny shift needed to be replaced because no gear worked at that point. Since then it's had no problems at all.

BTW, where do you ride? Being that you're in Chino, I'd love to compair riding spots. I'm usually at Glamis or Pismo and every now and then I head out to Victorville.

If you're having trouble getting your foot up enough to get into gear, lower the shifter. One whole notch on the shifter spline may be too much, it was for me, I had to bend the shifter for a perfect fit. I wear MX boots too, but I always had to lower the shifter on every bike I've had.

Also, just for your info, if you try to shift the same time you hit the pesky rev limiter (easily done un-intentionally), the stumble from the spark cutting out can make you miss your gear...
