Small unit syndrome

I hate to stereotype here but it seems like people with the 400EX have the small unit syndrome. I've had a couple of times in the last few weeks where guys with 400ex's feel like they have to slam my quad. This weekend it was "So how do you like your DS650" and then "yeah I was going to get one but they looked cheaply built". I about fell off my quad when I heard that one. I looked at the guy and said "Cheap made quads don't win the Baja" It's definetly not all 400ex riders because everyone else I talked to was really nice. It just seems like every ride has to have an jerk that has to justify his purchase.
By the way we had about 50 riders do a 2 minute long obstacle course and a Cannondale was by far the smoothest and fastest. I did beat the 400EX and made sure to ask him his time afterwords. My quad did pretty good considering it was out of it's element (Tight barrel turns, log climb, mud run, small jumps). Through the mud I was actually a lot faster than others with my stock tires and my low traction tires seemed to help around the barrels.

I think he'll be alright. There was a 14 year old with a 250ex that was one of the fastest of the day. I think the 400EX's are great quads it's just some people think they are a little better than they actually are. I guess I shouldn't be picking on the 400EX every quad has a set of owners who are jerks it's just that the last couple of times it's been a 400ex. It seems like the Cannondale guys are the best of the bunch (besides DS owners of course).

I think for its size the 400ex is a great quad, but I for one don't fit on it. I took a friends out for a short ride when I was looking to buy and being 6'5" I got one heck of leg workout just trying to sit comfortably on it. If my wife had any intrest in learning how to work a clutch it would be one of my first choices for her.
3TV I wouldn't worry, your son is going to be begging to ride your BAJA once he out grows the 400 and can't keep up with the "old man".
