More bottom end?

What is the cheapest way to get more bottom end? I ride in water often, so i'm not going to take the airbox cover off.

A slip on exhaust always works. Or you could try a sprocket.

You could go bigger rear sprocket or go small on the front. You will gain the bottom but you will lose the top end. That the cheap way to do it.

Modify your endcap, and the Low end will be their!

I just changed out my front and rear sprockets for more bottom end and quicker launches. I dropped 1 tooth to 15 in the front and raised 1 tooth to 41 in the rear. It made a pretty good sized difference for relatively little $. I found both sprockets on e-bay. Including shipping, I got both for just over $50. The power is now in a much more usable space for me. The front end is also quite a bit easier to pull up[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

I was going to ask the same thing tonight. I put 22" shreders on back and now have no low end. I want to lower the gearing as i have no need to go 80 mph, and want better low end. What gearing change would be good to get it lower than it was stock. I still have the stock gearing and air filter. I plan to change to a K&N soon and rejet then when the budget (wife) alows i will do a pipe. I dont know wheather to go smaller up front or biger in back, or both. what would you recomend? Thanks.

The biggest improvement you can make and cheapest is drop the front sprocket down to 15 tooth and raise the back to a 42 tooth. I did this with my Baja and I have the 22" holeshots, makes a huge difference. Your chain will still work without having to cut it or replace it. You can get a nice rear sprocket from Ron Woods Racing for about $52.00 and about $45.00 I think for the Front. You won't find a cheaper price on the Rear sprocket anywhere else, beleive me I have tried. He has them custom made and they are quite durable. The rear is made from Aluminum front from steel. You will have to shave a little meat out of the stock protector in order for the rear sprocket to fit. Also you are going to need an Air gun and a 35MM or 1 1/2 socket to get the axle nut off, It is torqued on way to tight from the factory, 173 Ft. Lbs. to be exact! Don't waste time with a big breaker bar! I went through 2 Snap on screwdrivers trying to hold the axle while getting it off. Save yourself the headache and just use the air gun or borrow one if you have too. You may also have to trim out the holes on the rear sprocket. Not the bolt holes! The sprocket is a tight fit with the chain and sprocket hub so some trimming of the sprocket holes may be required. Dremmel tools kick ***! If you don't have one, buy one! I quarantee it is one of the best investments you will ever make! Especially if you own a Quad you someday may want to modify. You could also go with a 14 tooth front instead of the 42 rear, but your chain life will shorten greatly. If you have any questions feel free to give me a call. (818)402-6458. Ask for Tony. If you want to improve the bottom HP then get a pipe, or remove the end cap - cut off the baffles - put the cap back on - and rejet. You'll pick up about 6-8 HP at 4000rpm doing this.

you can shave the head for under $50 at a machine shop. This will really wake up your low end.
