I decided that I would much rather have a gauge telling me my oil pressure. It has to be better than having an idiot light come on when the pressure is already at critical levels. I mean when your running 7500-8500 RPMS, and the light comes on, its probably not going to be a good ending. I also got tired of buying junk sensors! I used a liquid filled, Auto-meter pro-comp gauge. it matches perfectly! It has held up very well so far with all the rough trail riding and jumping. It reads steady even with all the vibrations. Heres the link.

Looks nice.

How is it mounted? Bolted to metal console using autometer standard mount?

What does the pressure read?

When I checked mine, it read 75psi.

02BAJA,
why you gotta do that? I really don't have any money to spend on my DS & you go & post a real cool pic like that. Makes me want to break out the check card & log onto Summit racing website....

The gauge is mounted to the plastic console. I am not to worried about knocking it off. It does seem like you could easily break it, but the a-arms blocks things from the front and in a case of a roll over, the body and handle bars should protect it. I ordered everything from jegs and it came to a total of $60 and some change. I used the port that the oil pressure sensor goes. It is a 1/4" NPT fitting, so it worked out very well. The pressure seems to be accurate. It runs up to 75-80 when cold and down to 55-60 when warmed up. Here are the links to the products. The gauge comes with everything to hook it up. You just have to buy a mounting cup for it and viola, DONE. The one thing that I havent figured out yet is, what wires can I splice into to operate the light on the gauge. So if any of you do this mod, let me know what wires you used to hook it up. Gauge and Pro-comp gauge cup Any other questions just e-mail or pm me. I would be glad to help.

Guys, is there room to put the oil pressure gauge on one side and the water temp. on the other side. Kinda balance it out. No more idiot gauges.

I've been thinking about one of the digital ones that show both but have been worried about excessive vibration.

I also looked into digital. I didnt think it would hold up with the vibrations. Thats why I chose a mechanical, liquid filled gauge. I also thought about a temp gauge. I didnt know where I would mount the sensor though.

02BAJA, mine look very similar to yours. I mounted it in the same location but my gauge only cost $15(Sunpro from autozone). Its nice to see the pressure instead of relying on the malfunctioning idiot light. It also looks cool at night. I tapped into the tach light, which is just a wire that is hot when the ignition is on. You can't hook it up to the headlight wires. Your gauges light will be on all the time, unless you add a switch.
