I am going to call Bombardier and see if they will share in the cost of repairs.

If this problem is occuring in the earlier models then it is a defect.

I will let you know what they say.

I just got off the phone with Bombardier and they said to take it to a dealer and let him determine what the problem is and the cause.

Then call them and they will see what they can do.

My brother did this with ford on his 4x4 ,because it was barely out of warranty with a $3,600 bill for front axles problems.

Does anybody have a diagram of the rear axle? I do not want to tear it down with out seeing it first!

He did say that you have to make sure that you drill deep enough or you will not get grease to the bearings. Something about drill through the shaft?

 

By future pumps, I mean future pumps of the grease gun. Every squeeze of the gun puts a certain amount of grease into the carrier, so an equal amount has to be forced out somewhere, and the only place it can escape is between the seals and the race they spin on. This is also the only place water could ever seep into the carrier. Having a grease zirt, in my opinion, is better than doing nothing at all for the life of the bearings, I just prefer to remove the axle and carrier every 100 hours for cleaning and packing.
For those that do not do their own maintenance, and don't want to spend a bundle every year at the dealer, the grease fitting may not be a bad idea. Just be sure to clean all the grease off that oozes out of each side of the carrier, because grit will stick to it otherwise, and could get drug into the seal over time.
