Is it possible to switch oils once you start on using one??

The reason I ask is because I have been using the Bombardier synthetic oil. Which gets very costly.... I have always heard that you have to stay with the same thing...Is it true?

I've never had any problems with using the oil, but $40 every time you change oil seems like a little much.

If it is possible, what type should I switch too? I have a friend who swears by Honda HP4(i think that is it). Thanx for the help.

You can change the oil, I would not mix oils though (add a different oil to the reservoir than what is in the bike).

I run the hp4, and I think it is good, but it is not cheap either.

I spend about $4 a quart for it.

Some swear by the castrol oil, but I have never tried it.

No, it don't hurt to switch. Like Bat said, I wouldn't mix though.
I use the HP4 also, but Valvoline just came out with motorcycle/atv oil and it will be available at Autozone and other autoparts stores, and I plan to change to it. I use Valvoline Durablend semi-synthetic in everything I have, except the DS, and now they make an oil specifically engineered for wet clutches so I'll probably dig it too.

I switched to redline 20W-50 with no problems at all. I let my bike sit over night with the drain plug out to make sure all the other oil was out.
