I saw an ad in Dirt Wheels magazine for 35 to 44 tooth rear sprockets for the DS650. The DS650 comes with a 40 tooth rear sprocket.

We put a 37 tooth sprocket and a 36 tooth sprocket on our bikes. I am heavier than Reaper, so I went one less. There is very little difference between them. The chain is continuous link (no master link) so you must cut links out and get a master link to fit the chain. Kinda sucks doing this before anyone knows what parts to use! I can put info/ pics up if needed.

I do not think there is any room in front to go up, only down. (less top speed) Our stock chains have worn the guards a tiny bit even.

okbyetahan-So what do you think of your new rear sprocket? Have you rode it yet? Did it help avoid that damn rev limiter a little? What about top end? Ihave to change my gearing, I shift way too fast in the first three gears.

Well, I put the 36 tooth rear sprocket on mine. The chain is so loose I can't test it. I ordered some master links for it but I'm thinking that it will not work anymore because of the continuous chain. I think that I am going to have to fork over another $175.00 for a new chain. ouch! I will let everyone know how it turns out.

Reaper-Why not just buy and aftermarket chain. I ran a quadramax from sidewinder on my LT500 it was great and I bet it would be cheaper than a stock chain. I don't know if they make a 530 though. Good Luck.

The chain shouldn't be a problem. It is quite common on the Sport motorcycles to have a master linkless chain. We have cut many of them and added master links without any failures and this is even on 1100+cc drag bikes (i think the new GSX1300R Hayabusa runs a 530 chain). The links should be readily available.

As far as 400EX's are concerned they cant compete with a DS. I have ran a couple of 440EX's and there is still no comparison. My Ron Wood Stage One kit came in Monday so I cant wait to victimize some more of these guys and if I do get beat I'll just go get my Quadzilla!!!!!

I ended up getting an after market chain, and put everything on last night. It is a beautiful thing. Where it used to top out in 5th is now where I am shifting into 5th. It's like adding a sixth gear. There is a lack of torque in second, but it's not bad. It was the perfect mod for my style of riding.
