I am currently talking with the Tech inspector for LVMS about running at "The Strip". I would be the first quad to do it since the NHRA started with the rules for it. I understand that many of you are already running at paved drag strips and wanted to know- What rules do you all have? Do you all have to run NHRA rules, or are they "OVERLOOKED". I would like to see a buch of quads start running out there, but the rules require a chain gaurd, and stiff wall tires [since it's a quarter mile track]. Do the tracks you run at require these? Please let me know what rules and what tracks you folks run with. Thanks

As far as I know, the two tracks closet to me one of which is NHRA certified. The only rules it requires is that you must have on tennis shoes or boots, helmet and pants. NO shorts. As for the IHRA track the rules are the same except we have to have an inspection of our bikes to make sure nothing is loose or leaking (the inspection is a joke to me) and you can't run against cars only against bikes and other four wheelers. Red River Raceway, Shrevport, Louisiana\ Houston SpeedWay Houston, Texas. Side note i have never actually run my own bike in Houston but was with my friends when they ran theres.

At the local tracks in the DFW area the requirements are boots (above ankles), long pants, helmet, leather jacket and leather gloves. There is an inspection

Down here you have to have boots, of some kind, pants, and a helmet nothing else is required. I imagine it is differnt down here because alot of things get "overlooked".

Norwalk is an IHRA and their rules are pretty much in line with what everyone else here said. What i don't understand is the stiff sidewall tire that was mentioned?? Anyone that has driven an eleven second or faster vehicle down a track on M/T slicks knows that it feels like you are driving on Jello. Those are wrinkle wall design with a MUCH softer sidewall than any ATV tire I have ever seen and they are about the only thing used.

Around here, the rules only apply when it is race day. For us to just go out and run on grudge night, we have to have boots, gloves, jacket, and helmet and goggles.

I did see a guy run 126 in the 1/8, and they shut him down until he had full leather.

A tail light is usually required and kill switch along w/ the above mentioned...You can tape a flashlight to the rear...

at my local dragstrip which is nhra i think. you have to have a jacket, gloves, boots, and helmet and a taillight of somekind. you have race when the motorcycles do and usually against another atv or by yourself.
