jeff why did you not put the 720 in your baja? this kit has been of interest to me, but heard that you had some concern with the kit.thanks for any input.

yes, i have a ct 105mm sleeve with stock stroke. it runs strong, but i cant keep the head sealed for anything. the head was pushing out coolent at aledo when i was there. it didnt seem to slow the bike down. just gets my right leg wet with antifreeze, blowing out the overflow bottle. i have had the motor out, and changed head gaskets 6 times in less then 1 year. so now ..my DS is used as a workbench in my garage. i use it to store parts on. you would be surprised how much stuff you can put on top of a ds it makes a good table. lol
i took my ds to la. dunes labor day weekend with a fresh head gasket. it lasted 1 hour. thats the last time i touched it. ill stick to my banshee from now on

What kind (material) and from whom are you getting these gaskets from?

Just curious, I might have an idea for you. Just an idea though.

Have you tried getting the head o-ring'ed? I heard that is what the guys with LT500s were doing to keep it sealed.

Badassbomb...you say you have the 105 sleeve? They only told me they had a piston. How much does the sleeve cost? This would obviously solve the problem of having to have the stock one recoated. O-rings seem like a good idea too. I'll have to look into that.

i talked to ct about 6 months ago ,alan said he was not offering the piston anymore because of the head sealing problem. i also talked la sleeve and they make a sleeve in case you do get a piston.

Someone should PM scooby. He has done more R&D on this "head sealing" problem then anyone. I think, after several configurations he has come up with a way to keep the DS head sealed. For now anyway...

i've tried copper gaskets, .054, .030, thick with copper o-ring on the cylinder. i tried stainless steel o-ring. i tried a spring steel head gasket, .020 thick. i tried .010 and .020 thick o-rings. nothing works if anyone has any suggestions,...feel free.
because it looks like my DS has been retired for good
i think the only thing that would work would be a pami cylinder. if anyone knows where i can buy one, let me know.
