Default Sand Tires and Gearing?

Some 22" tires come close and others slightly rub the heel guards. However, there is an easy fix for that. The extra 'flap' can be trimmed off and then you never have to worry at all. The other option is to mount the tires and see if it clears, which they very possibly will but not by much. I trimmed the 'flap' off mine just because I didn't care for the look of it. I have 22" Holeshots for dirt and 21" (a true 21" at the carcass, not the paddle tip) Sand Skate I paddles for sand. I've never had anything rub or hit or touch unnaturally even with extra weight on the machine.

Default Sand Tires and Gearing?

I am in the process of many changes. I currently run the 20X10X10 - 8 paddle haulers with the 15 tooth up front - haven't changed the rear yet. Now the tricky part. I am going to a high compression piston, race 1 cams and a Ron Wood (type) stage 3 head (larger valves and porting) + 45 mm carb.

Was going to go with the 22x11x10-9 Paddle haulers but, now I am thinking of the 22x11x10 - 10 paddles.

Does anyone have similar mods that con offer opinions?

i use 22-11-8 10 paddle haulers. 18-41 gearing has been the fastest gearing for me in 300' sand drags.

8" Rims (DSMike)? How did you mount them up?

Do you dune and trail ride with those tires too?

That is some TALL gearing. Do you go up a hill?

Do you have that much power? Can't remember Mike, Do you have any porting and valve work?

Default Sand Tires and Gearing?

i have a custom made swing arm and rear end. new axle hubs brake, chain. i drag race 300' and got a 1.83 60' time. thats good. with a 12 paddle tire i should be able to move into the 1.7's 60's. i don't do much trail riding. mostly just the traill to the drag strip. i am running triple buff tires on the front and rear so wouldn't be a good idea to go through any brush or anything else. i have my head ported and stock values right now. i will be tring out some larger values later on. still tring to get more in other places frist.

the next time i take the bike out it will have 18F and 36 rear sprockets.

Can you use the stock chain with the 15/43 combo? Anyone run 14/40?

No yo can't use the stock chain unless you cut it and add some links. You can use it for the 14/40 combo though.
