Default Need some info on Glamis, you been there??

Hey guys, im starting to plan my Christmas vacation, going to see the family in WA, some in AZ, and im starting and ending in good old TX, Anyway, had the maps out for the first time planning the route, im going to hit GLAMIS on the way to WA, and then hit Coos Bay in OR, on the way back down, Anyway my Q's about Glamis. Im going to be turning off I-10 coming from TX, i see there is highway 78 leads right down the the dunes, is this the best route, when should i turn off to hit the best spots??? it is my first time going, but wont be the last, Any campgrounds would be nice, but i can just pitch the sleeping bags in the back of the truck if i need to.

Any advice from the regulars?? will be there probably the 21st and 22nd December, will it be packed? any atvconnection.commers going to be there??

thanks alot
Rob.

For my TX friends........ I plan on hitting Kermit dunes at least twice before than so dont count me out.

The 78 will take you to the heart of Glamis. I don't usually come that way. I am usually coming the opposite direction on the 78 from the 86s and Brawley. If you want to camp where it is quiet and a little more families, check out the washes by going down the wahsroad just after the railroad tracks and before the store. The flats just passed the store are easy in and out. If you want to camp with the party crowd, Gecko is for you. To get to Gecko and Roadrunner, pass Osborne overlook and take a left on Gecko Rd. There is a ranger station there that can answer some of your questions. Check out Olds and the Big Bowls behind Olds hill. Also if your up for a long ride, check out China wall. If you plan to go out to China Wall without experienced duners, I would purchase a GPS and download coordinates from the ASA. Also stop and have a cold one at Boardmanville. Have a good time!!!

I would show you around but I am not going until the 26th. But I am going again next weekend also.
