Default slipping into nuetral

does any one have the same problem as I do? Sometimes coming out of first my tranny doesn't go into second, instead it goes into nuetral. Am I not pushing up hard enough or might something else be wrong. It doesn't happen too often but when it does happen it's kind of annoying. Other people who have ridden my bike have had the same problem. Is it just something I have to get use to? I've only had the bike for about 4 months now.thanks

Does it actually get into 2nd then pop out..if it does then it is probably a bent shifting fork
In 2002 they upgraded the shifting forks and shift shaft................
Only way to fix it is split the cases, for a $43 part

I replaced mine (shifting fork) at a recent teardown.

From what I understand, I would NOT recommend pushing hard on your shifter to get it in gear, you will just bend something. If it pops out once it is in, your engagement dogs are probably warn (am I getting this right Jeff?) If it doesn't go into second, the shifting fork is probably bent (I think???)

If you have only had if for 4 mos. I wouldn't think you have anything damaged yet. Watch it when you loan your quad out. Someone else could be hitting it real hard when shifting causing some damage (bends.)

Good news is that when it does go, you can jusify the 760 with your wife since you will be in there anyways (Can't wait for mine to go again )

one both my 2000 and my 2001 ds's were hard to shift down from 2 to 1st. seemed to always go into neutral most every time, i even broke my stock chain last winter ice racing tring to shift down and raming it to hard between gears, tried synthetic fluid, change shifter angle no different. they just have that problem? now i just try not to go down that low when racing, even if i have to slip the clutch some.
